Ultrasonic Wave Nebulizers

Ultrasonic nebulizers utilize high-frequency sound waves generated by a vibrating crystal to break liquid into particles. In 2026, these are popular for their speed and near-silent operation, making them excellent for pediatric use.

However, they are restricted in medication compatibility. Because the ultrasonic process generates heat, they cannot be used with certain temperature-sensitive medications, such as suspensions (e.g., Pulmicort) or proteins, which may degrade and lose efficacy.
